My first Saab was a '74 99 4spd manual. This car had narrow-165-15" tires-, a skid plate under the engine which allowed me to navigate dirt roads and other hazzards. This car loved the snow. I used to go 'drift busting' when the snow got 3-4ft drifts. Just for fun. As long as the front wheels could touch something solid, I went. Never had such a snow friendly car, don't think I ever will! Even though I have rented 4wd vehicles for skiing, etc. All the Saabs since- C900, multi 9000s, don't do nearly as well in the snow. I can remember 'plowing' with my CSE, and didn't even try the Aero. Skinny tires and a clean front end made this a great snow vehicle.
