Thanks. I used Simple Green in a spray bottle and some old wet rags and hand scrubbed it all. I used another spray bottle with water in it to rinse the upper sections of the engine bay where it's important not to get water in electrical places, and used a very light trickling garden hose for the lower sections. It took some time but was worth it, and I kept up with it with a quick wipe down now and then. Some people take power washers to their engine bays and all I can say to that is "YOU ARE FREAKING CRAZY!!"

Here's before and after. The before is actually one of the pictures the guy I bought the car from sent me, and the after is the picture I took when I was selling it.
