When I did the chain on my 9000, I originally bought a chain break tool from a bicycle shop. It was totally inadequate for the job, mainly because bicycle chains are much lighter duty, and the tool did not fit well over the much larger timing chain. My next step was to get a chain break from a motorcycle shop. This was much sturdier and worked well removing the pin, once the head was ground off, but was not up to the job of peening the new pin. Providing you are not too aggressive with the hammers (talking to you Bob!), you can do a pretty good job because you can check the mushroom size after each blow.
