My manual Aero will go into the red a hair. My LPT will go to the border. The Aero runs double the boost of the LPT.
Basically the boost gauge can be programmed to go anywhere you want - it's driven by the ECU. So you want to peg the boost gauge on your LPT? Get an ECU program that pegs the needle at 7 psi....
If you are really interested in trouble shooting boost problems, thing #1 is a real boost gauge. I have a vacuum/pressure gauge that I connect temporarily and run the hose in through the window.
