One of the casualties of the -er- liquidation process was the material supply flow. That flat black is the equivalent of a "Linear" (if they keep the obscure nomenclature that, in the US with it's limited choice of models makes absolutely no sense ... beyond the Aero that is) dash. There's drop dead gorgeous carbon fiber (Vector) and wood accented (Arc) dashboards slated for the 2011 model year. The 2010 9-5 is a stop gap stake in the ground to give dealers something = anything - to show (not that they seem to be able to keep their hands on them ... my dealer sold his car sight unseen to a long time customer) and Saab Cars of North America something in which to unleash the press.
In case you didn't notice, there wasn't a sunroof either.
As for the car itself: It has a ready customer base in New Jersey, what with its "three body" trunk! (and as John Libbos observed, if they opt for the cargo divider, which the show's car didn't have, you can even keep the live ones separate from the dead one).
