I compiled the following table from a mixture of SAAB sales brochures in my possession (the left three columns) and internet spec pages (the right three columns). I believe there are some liberties being taken with overall width. The SAAB dimensions are from outside of mirror to outside of mirror, I believe some of the others may be car body width only.
I chose the SAABs based on what I currently own (the reason why I have the brochures), the BMW & and the Audi A8 because the new 9-5 appeared to mimic those in size, and the new Buick because I thought it might be closer in size to my old 9-5 than the new 9-5.
Obviously the new 9-5 looks larger than it really is. It is larger than the previous editions but not by as much as your eyes will tell you.
BTW - my 2006 9-3SC is actually taller then the new 9-5 at 58.7 inches!
