Bluetooth phones have been out for a while now. Nokia's is the 6310 (see http://www.nokia.com). Though as someone else mentioned, the older 6210 can be bluetooth enabled at a price. Lots of Ericsson's are also bluetooth enabled. T68i, T65, T39 and T20 are or can be made bluetooth capable. What it offers is wireless connection. You can bluetooth cards for laptops, computers, PDAs etc, and now Car Handsfree kits. The phone only has to be in a reasonable range of the other Bluetooth device to be able to communicate with it. So it can live in your pocket, briefcase, boot (trunk) or wherever. Dialling and control is achieved by voice recognition. It means that in the Saab, you don't have to have that ugly telephone mounting bracket, as the phone never needs to be connected to the car. (Unless you need to recharge of course).

Other benefits: A bluetooth car kit, is a bluetooth car kit. It will work with any bluetooth capable phone. So if you change your phone, you don't have to change your car kit. Important with the popular Nokia CARK-91 for instance, as it is very old in mobile terms now, and the only phone left in production that fits it is the 6310. Because they keep reducing the size of the phones, the CARK91 may not be suitable in future - its aerial connector is high up at the top of the phone, which means that the phones that fit it have to be long. I like the idea of having a car kit I can take from car to car, and use with any future bluetooth phone I might own, with no added expense. With the static wired versions, whilst initially slightly cheaper, there is a repeated expense when you change either car or phone.
