I have an '01 LPT wagon (similar to Linear) and love it. Had test driven a '00 SEV6 wagon (similar to Arc) before and thought it was rough and hated the exhaust sound.
Drove a '02 Arc sedan and now have a better appreciation for the V6. The new 5speed auto tranny is great with the V6, compared to the previous 4speed auto. The V6 exhaust note in the Arc I testdrove droned through the cabin at idle, and killed my tune listening pleasure. There were a couple of times I sat at a light thinking the car next to me had their bass turned up-turned out it was the drony exhaust. I don't mind a good sounding exhaust (as I have the sport exhaust on my '94 900SET), but the V6 still doesn't possess one.
Then I testdrove a '02 5speed auto Aero and forgot all about the Arc. ;-) If I had only waited...alas...
Unless you want the xenon lights option or really like vented seats (which I have on my LPT but not available with the Linear), I'd still skip the Arc. The weight penalty of the V6 engine nearly negates its 15hp and 22lbft torque advantage over the Linear, IMO. And it (Arc) gets slightly worse mileage to boot.
If it were me, I'd save the money and get a Linear and add the sport exhaust, which will bring you closer in performance to the Arc, or-ante up for the Aero. It's not that much of a reach for the Aero (compared to the Arc)-you get better seats (unless you really want/need vented seats), more power and better gas mileage to boot! Yeah, I'd get the Aero.
Get the Aero! ;-)
