Step #1: This can be more effective if you are on stands and have all four wheels off. If you fully push all four caliper pistons in, you will have more fluid to remove from the reservoir. Getting the fluid out is not easy. I use a 60CC syringe and tubing, as well as a small diameter aluminum tubes and hoses to get fluid out of the second section of the reservoir. Step #1 should be done once a year, not worrying about caliper pistons etc. Brake fluid is cheap.
And as always, never press the brake petal to the floor. Place a piece of 2x4 or something else behind the petal.
