I've been doing research and shopping around for the last couple months in preparation to buy a car in this class. I've visited Audi, BMW, Infiniti, SAAB, and Volvo. Without a doubt, the most straight-shooting sales people were at the SAAB dealership. This probably has a good bit to do with why I'm leaning towards SAAB. I haven't talked price much with them, but when I've brought up incentives and such, I felt they were very straight forward about them.
I was just making the point that nothing, other than the "incentive" to sell a car, is compelling a salesperson to disclose any factory to dealer incentives to the consumer. I have dealt with many car salesmen who would just as soon lie to you (or, at least, not tell you the whole truth) if they thought they could still make the sale and pocket a little extra profit at the same time. At least at my local SAAB dealership, I have not found that to be the case.
