simply boils down to oil temperature (no pun intended) and the engine design. The bottom end of the 4 cylinder engine was designed around 30 weight conventional oil and an oil temperature of around 160F - in fact, the original 900T had an oil thermostat temperature setting of 160F. In the 9-5, to compensate for the sludge promoting low tension piston rings, that setting has been raised to 220F - hence the near universal recommendation for heavier oil.
Your V-6 has an oil-to-water heat exchanger for more uniform oil temperatures of around 190, and was designed for 30 weight oil at that temperature. Sludge has not been an issue with this engine. Also, with the oil-to-water heat exchanger, the oil warms up faster, further reducing the tendency to sludge.
Bottom line, stick with whatever 5W30 or 0W30 synthetic oil you prefer. If you fall back to a synthetic blend, 10W30 is a better idea.
