Most sites (e.g. msn) will invariably tell you it's less expensive to keep it. I agree with Brucer's logic. From experience I can tell you it costs about $100 - $150 in car parts per 1,200 miles driven to keep a car reliable and roadworthy. I do all my own routine maintenance. If you don't do your own work you can add about another $75 per 1,200 miles driven. So if you haven't sunk much money into your car for a while, it's giving you a wake-up call.
Don't be too worried about parts availability. Saab Parts I believe is now owned by the Swedish gov't mostly because it's profitable. Also consider that there are about 1.5 million Saabs still on the road. Parts both new and used will be available for quite a while.
