I have a '02 Aero and I follow a similar regime... 30-45 seconds of idle than off gently. My previous '01 Audi had both a turbo boost gauge and an oil temperature gauge. Its very instructive to see jusy how long it takes for oil to come up to temperature (4-7 miles at highway speed in the Audi). Hence, the need for a good synthetic oil that will flow well right from the start... I have used Mobil1 0w-30 or 5w-30 for years with excellent results. In addition, the Audi used an electric pump to circulate oil around the turbo for five minutes after you shut the car off. I found, that after spirited driving, I could lower the oil temperature by driving the last two miles to my house gently but keeping the revs up.
Good luck,
Eric
