sounds like an engine colonoscopy... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Wed, 16 Jan 2013 06:34:58 In Reply to: A plug and a siphon pipe, Tim, Tue, 15 Jan 2013 23:12:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
what an awesome Christmas gift! that is very cool... I'm not sure the best solvent to use - I haven't experienced the coffee grounds first hand (thankfully!)... maybe the first step is to see what you can see in your next oil change... and post pictures here - I bet many would be interested in how well that works! Should add though, it might be tricky to see the screen iirc, there's not much of a gap (another possible root cause of sludge buildup there if there are flow "issues"?)...
like you say, if you've had the car for most of it's life and have done full synthetic short changes, the risk of sludge is probably lower... iirc the oldest cars were not initially on a full synth 0W40 (it was semi-synth iirc) and that may be a significant factor...
