Any thoughts on mixing M1 0W40 and 15W50...I'm thinking 3.1 qts 0W40 and 1 qt 15W150. These are both A3/B3 and readily available. It will give me somewhat higher viscosity and HTHS. I realize that there's no precision in this method. Does that matter given that both oils are fine? I'm looking for something a little thicker than the 0W40 for higher mileage 9-5s. 5W40 seems like a guessing game and the special environmentally friendly version is even more expensive.
Is it safe to add a little extra oil at each fill to account for some burning of oil or am I better off checking the oil regularly and adding as needed. How much is safe? It can be a nuisance with thick cold oil in the winter and that hard to read black dipstick.
