9-5 Wagon Spare Tire

Just had a major headache with a flat tire and then the donut failing on our spare car and I don't want to be stuck with the donut spare on my 9-5, especially on a long trip.

I've searched this board and found a few helpful ideas but haven't uncovered the info I am looking for:

I want a full-size spare for a '01 9-5 2.3LPT wagon. The wheels and tires are original equipment (Michelin MXV4's). I'm not necessarily looking to match the original alloys as I don't intend to put the spare into the rotation. I'm not concerned about temporary looks, but I am very concerned about safety and handling. I've read some posts about using narrower tires to fit in the wheel well, but most people didn't think space was a problem with the wagon. This seems unwise to me...why not stick with the donut then? I think it is wise to match the type of tire as some other posters mentioned, which I will do.

Has anyone actually gone this route and can tell me the exact wheel type/order info as well as confirming that it will fit in the existing wheel well?
