And as DT clarified too.
<But I also noticed that the engine temp remained fine. So I kept going>
<Drive real easy, keep stopping and topping it off.>
I don't have a problem with that you are alert and stopping to top off the fluid when the message told you but to just keep going thinking it is probably fine, that's crazy.
Even though I make my money repairing cars, I hate when customers comes in with a BBQ'd engine because they just "had" to get off the freeway or they "thought" they were going to make it home or to the shop or whatever and the temp gauge "only spiked up to red ones" and then it went down so I thought everything was fine.
So the repair goes from a $20.00 upper radiator hose plus labor (or $100.00 bypass valve) and fluid to a $3000.00-4000.00 engine replacement.
I don't find joy in those stories.
