hello, I have a non scientific non definitive but 90% of the time identifies a bad MAF on a test drive. Pull a good hill at full throttle and check the boost gauge in the cluster. If the car feels like it is pulling good but the boost gauge does not go all the way up to the usual red line the MAF is failing. This does assume a well running car with proper fuel pressure, plugs, good DIC no air leaks etc.
This works because even though several pressure sensors are on your engine the boost gauge on a T7 car gets its input from the MAF sensor.
As a side question was it the number 2 piston you cracked.
Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive
