The thermostat itself has a feeble little o-ring , and the twins on the extension/outlet tube are are a horrible design . The lid on the oil cooler also needs resealant from time to time . I use the ultra gray stuff .
Take extra care to make sure the water pump o-ring seated correctly ...I have had some installation errors , it's tricky to feel it seat correctly . I use a bit of vaseline on the o-rings .
Those bolts on the front of the engine are easy to strip out , just as some can be almost permanently fossilized in place ...especially when there is some coolant dripping on them ! I regard the "lift hook/diptick tube " setup in this car as a real whack to all those years of Swedish engineering .
Fix them leaks !!!
