When I was into the timing cover, the tale-tell hole that faces up was full of coolant and slight play in the water pump shaft. So I jumped to an early conclusion that the water pump was the culprit. My SAAB has a history of the oil-to-water cooler failing but both times that it failed caused a oil-slick in the coolant. And both of those times were under warranty = happy. K W - I'm pretty certain the thermostat housing gasket is not leaking. When I installed the stat with a new timing belt, I used grey silicone and the O-ring together. I shine a light down on that Stat and it looks dry. Whatever is leaking, doesn't leak once the vehicle is up to temperature. The leak occurs mainly during the cool-down. I'm afraid to ask what kind of task it is to reseal the oil cooler? I just wish I could see where it's dripping from. Hoping it's not a head-gasket. The Catera website talks a lot about head-gasket failures on the 3.0 V6. Any more ideas how to spot the source of the leak? Thanks for the help!!
