Help on Fuel Pump for 2006 SC after hot no-start

Looking for input on failure rate for fuel pumps in 2006 - 2009 9-5's. I am maintaining two 2006's for my daughters. One of them had a crank-no-start while the car was hot. She had driven to meet her sister, so they went for supper. She called me, let it cool, it started, and she drove the 30 miles to my house. No CEL.
My dilemma: She can't tell me whether the tachometer moved or not while cranking, so I worry whether CPS or fuel pump. I had a CPS in hand waiting to replace it along with the rest of my long term maintenance. I replaced the old CPS - cold it measured right on the spec 900 Ohms.
Two questions:
1) Has anyone had CPS with normal resistance still be bad ?
2) How many of you have had to replace a fuel pump in a 2006-2009 9-5? I know some say the 2006+ cars' fuel pumps "don't go" - but this car is approaching 120K, and with an earlier 9-5 I would be replacing it proactively.
Thanks in advance !
