I've got a 2002 Aero wagon and as of yet have not experienced any of the problems listed above. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the blue smoke issue is only applicable to the LPT.
Problems I have had:
Rear seat alignment is out after folding down and putting a load on it- to be fixed under warranty
Sunroof making a "click" noise do to an errant clip- a simple repair to be replaced under warranty
Center panel vent damper door wouldn't close off- was replaced under warranty
As you can see- all of the problems I've had to date were relatively minor and were corrected without hassle under warranty. I would definitely recomend the Aero to anyone who wants a fast, comfortable, reliable and practical car.
