In response, please note that I merely said the V6 is "reputed" to be less robust than the I-4. The I-4 has been around for decades longer and has proven itself to be durable and able to take moderate to extreme hot-rodding without undue distress. Per Eklund is driving around with a highly modified I-4 putting out 750 bhp. The V-6 is not as robust an engine in design or construction - this is fact, not supposition.
In stock form with a low factory boost level the V-6 is a good engine, but I would not at all be surprised if it proves to be less durable in the long run.
I stand by my statements - that is one reason why I picked a 2.3 HOT, because of its "bulletproof" reputation. OTH if Saab offered a 3.0 V-6 Aero Wagon in a comparable state of tune as the 2.3 HOT with about 325 bhp and AWD....well, I would not have to think too long about buying one.
