Currently a Saad dealer tech:
Saab went to a different cylinder head gasket design which required a higher level of machine work than they were used to, hence the leaks. The retorque seems to cure it and they tightened up their tolerances in later years. The good news is that it is a better head gasket design and should prove to be a durable design.
Sorry to hear that you were treated less than perfectly by your dealer. Some dealers are adopting the money is all that matters philosophy and that is sad. If you feel that you were somehow treated unfairly their is a customer service dept that would be happy to hear from you.
