urban legend.
OK, what do you think, other than height, might be the advantage of touching skin on your chin as opposed to skin on your chin or on your fingers? Try pointing at the sky and pushing the button; touch your skin if you like. Try it both ways.
If you sell Saabs, perhaps you have Saab mechanics and shop and wiring manuals where you work. We all need to know the location of the receiver antenna for the remote unlocking system. Is it really low, in the interior, between the seats? If so, that fact alone would help explain the crappy range since the metal of the coachwork would eliminate line of sight radio signals from getting to the antenna, only reflected energy would the antenna. The other suspect is the heat resistent glass. Can your tech types tell us what year Saab started using heat resistent glass? That might coincide with the dramatic reduction in "remote" the last few years.
It would be interesting to see how difficult it would be re-locate a receiving antenna higher in the car's interior. A large antenna surface might make a difference as well.
Thanks in advance.
