No heat and noises after coolant hose burst Posted by mb [Email] (#2713) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mb) on Wed, 27 Dec 2023 13:53:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2005 9-5 aero manual ~114k miles:
I have no heat after replacing the bypass valve to block hose (part #4757126) and coolant. It sounds like the blower fan is hitting something, sort of a grinding noise. The noise seems to get worse when I go from high heat to a/c. I noticed that the coolant did not drop at all when I replaced it, even with the heat on high temp and the fan on low.
The grinding noise occurred around the time that the bypass value to block hose burst and sprayed coolant everywhere on my way to work. I think that sub freezing weather played a role.
I suspect a bad coolant bypass valve or blower fan, but I'm not sure which to replace. Would a bad bypass valve make noises?
Would the burst line be the cause or effect?
Thanks,
Mike
