sounds like you may have had, or still have, air in the system... Usually it works it way out over time.. but if you drive up a steep incline, that could help eliminate the air pocket.
Also check the bypass valve.. to see if the hoses on the engine side entering the valve are hot, and if so, then the hose on the side of the valve entering the firewall should be hot as well.. if that is not the case , then the valve is bad.. if it is hot. and both pipes at the heater core are not hot.. then its an air pocket.. or possibly some blockage..
If both heater core pipes are hot.. but the heat is lacking.. then its likely a problem with the mixing air flap in your ACC system.. Try recalibrating to see if any codes pop up.. Maybe the sound you're hearing are the flaps trying to move?
