In my experience, Mobil1 has been great. I have used it for years in a variety of cars and have been very satisfied (excellent high temperature stability and detergency - see http://www.mobil1.com). The Mobil1 filter is excellent as well (Part # M1-102 for your Saab) although it is more expensive than the Saab filter. I have also used Redline synthetic oils in my BMW's and that is super oil at 3-4 times the cost of Mobil1. I use 5w-30 as I live in a temperate climate (Cape Cod MA).
In any event, modern oils are so superior to what was available even a decade ago that regular oil changes (3-10K depending on use profile) and clean filters will give you a very long and happy life with your Saab.
Happy motoring
Eric
