All info very accurate, others just cry wolf!.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Do it quick! What's the catch?....., Josh K., Fri, 30 Aug 2002 23:06:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The numbers you got are very accurate. That's why I asked what the catch is as the numbers indicate that with the load floor the deal was below invoice. And if there's nothing wrong with the car go for it.
As for why people bandy about absurd low numbers or where is the other money hidden, well I guess a lot of folks feel there is a conspiracy by auto dealers to evade the truth and to hoodwink the customer at all times.
Would you base your livelyhood on that assumption. Maybe 20 years ago you had a better chance of getting that attitude. Todays information availible world makes that style obsolete and so dealers are straightforward and honest notwithstanding the bad apples. Saabs are hard enough to sell without getting tricky.
I've mentioned before that on this BB the phenomona of remembering the actual price you paid. Often folks memories of what they paid at the time is somewhat enhanced with the passing of time. There are GM employee deals on Saab which go below invoice and past the holdback. There are other ways for a dealer to recoup lost profit on the sale with trade in under allowances, finance and lease rate profit, accessory, warranty profit. Sometimes when a customer is hung up on a figure, that's the way it's done. Sometimes when a dealer has a lot of a particular car or can get another one quickly a dealer will accept an absurd offer. And all these come up on this BB as you'd be crazy to pay more than........
Part of the problem can be laid on Saab. Different incentives for different cars at different times for different methods of payment. Often deals were made at a lower price because there was a larger incentive at the time. To my knowledge incentives are the same nationally, no regional variations, but even that might change.
Hope you get it.
