I wouldn't base your logic on the onstar usage... Posted by MisplacedYankee [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Interesting..., Jason, Fri, 6 Sep 2002 17:34:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
GM has also made onstar available in Audis of which VW/Audi has no relationship with GM. GM used onstar exclusively in the past, but any automaker that wants to offer onstar can thru GM. GM is selling onstar as a stand-alone auto make independent service. I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually a sub of GM or has a biz structure like a sub.
I would imagine the same logic for the engines and other parts applies. GM produces many boat engines for various companies. I am sure GM just did a deal with Honda because it was cheaper to use their engine than build one that met the CA emissions standards. Any company will sell anything if they can make a buck. While Honda is a competitor to GM they are a small one....The only competitors a bet GM wouldn't work deals with are Ford and Chrysler -- Maybe VW....
