Rob: Unless you have had similar experiences on other cars you have owned and driven, or admit to being a gorilla when it comes to braking,I think you have a legitimate gripe about a few tings. First hint to me is that your rear disks are also warped. On a front heavy FWD car, the rear brakes are along for the ride, and contribute negligible action in an average stop, therefore, if your rear disks are also out of round, chances are that this happened when a mechanic improperly tightened the wheels. Can you proove this? Probably not now, since they have been off for the inspection.
Will the dealer take the initiative in going to bat for you? Probably not, since in addition to seeing possible legitimate component wear cases like this, they also get customers who abuse the brakes and then ask for rotors under warranty. In addition, if it were to be determined by Saab that the reason for all this is improper wheel tightening, how would the dealer look?
I suggest you ask the dealer to have the Saab RSM who covers your region meet with you at the dealer's place so you can diplomatically plead your case to him/her.
Another thing that bugs me about your dealer's recommendations is that he says put on new rotors now, but your pads would need to be replaced by 30K miles. That is sheer lunacy,the idea of putting on mew rotors and leaving the old pads in place. Those worn pads could actually cause harm to your new disks!
I have had exceptionally long brake life on all my Saabs, but admit to driving and braking with a light foot, as well as to downshifting in those cars with a stick. The wear that you have described is outside of the norms by quite a bit, UNLESS YOU ARE HARD ON THE EQUIPMENT.
