I'd still skip the Arc and its V6. Why get the Arc when the Aero is the same price (with manual tranny, or $1300 more with 5sp auto)? For 2001 and earlier models, the price diff between the V6 and the LPT/Aero models were such that getting the V6 made some sense for those who wanted more power than the LPT or for those who couldn't afford an Aero. Those considerations were eliminated in 2002 and going into 2003 with the current price structure.

Also, the 4cylinder engine has more aftermarket power upgrade options than the V6.

The only reason to get the Arc now is if you're adamant on getting a SAAB and want a V6 regardless of power or price. However, SAAB seems to need to offer it if only to pacify those who say luxo cars in this price range need more cylinders and for new car buyers who have been brainwashed into thinking V6 (more cylinders) is better and are likely prospective 1st time SAAB buyers. Just a guess.

Until SAAB ups the power ante of the V6 to levels on par with its competitors and/or drops the Aero version 4 cylinder engine in this lineup-this will remain the case. SAAB needs to end the dichotomy and makes up its mind on the engine issue. A 300hp V6 would do nicely and pretty much turn the tables on the 4 cylinder debate. Retaining the underpowered (yet turbocharged V6) in its current form is ludicrous. Compare to the '03 Accords 240hp from the same displacement and you see what I mean.

I only wished I had waited for '02-my loaded '01 LPT cost more than a current Aero (sigh).
