Romo,
The V-6 is definitely *not* an ill-conceived engine. There's some very elegant engineering, with the integrated exhaust manifold/turbine housing, the asymmetric turbo concept, and the Direct Ignition and drive-by-wire. I think for most of us, it's a combination of a price/performance thing - the Aero has much more performance for little more price, and the Linear has much the same performance for significantly less price. Also, the Linear and Aero engines can trace their lineage back to the original Saab 99 engine, while the V-6 is at it's heart a recent GM invention (although Saab did design the cylinder heads for them). But still, the ARC gives you the larger brakes, ventilated seats, up-market radio as standard, and a bit more power, without the harder riding suspension and damage-prone sports wheels of the Aero. It has its place in the Saab lineup.
Me, I bought the Aero.
