CTS loses thud test...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Hey... How Does The 9-5 and New Caddy CTS Compare?, 9sound, Sun, 22 Sep 2002 23:24:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Also being a Cadillac dealer, as is more and more common with GM, we have CTS's and Saabs. I have very strong opinions here.
CTS doors are have a "tinny" feel and and awful twang in the latch when closed. Not at all the solid thud of a 9-5. Overall GM materials somewhat flimsy. Straight panels will be susceptible to dings.
GM V6 is coarse. And I miss the turbo's low end punch.
Ride of the CTS is ultra-firm, not at all compliant. Sport 9-5, the Aero, rides better than softest CTS. CTS with sport package is a buckboard.
Interior is a nightmare of textures and shapes with overly complicated audio controls. I like the thumb wheel volume controls on the CTS steering wheel.
Styling, well the CTS looks better in person than it did in the pictures, but a 9-5 hasn't attracted anyone on shear beauty alone either. The CTS is unique.
While Cadillac is looking to interest BMW, Mercedes and other highline buyers, there is almost no cross-shopping of CTS to Saab. The CTS and the 9-5 don't show up on the same shopping lists. Different kind of folks. I'm the Saab kind.
