that is, if no one is right behind you. Especially if your V1 detects laser, you need to slow down as soon as possible, because you get very little warning with laser (that's just the nature of laser, not a shortcoming of the V1)
The "laser" warning sound is completely different than the X/K/Ka sounds, it sounds like the European high/low police sound.
As to whether or not the police officer will be grumpy when he sees you braking, it depends... Once, a friend of mine drove by a cop stopped on the shoulder of a highway, and my friend's speed was about 50 mph.
Unfortunately, this section of highway was just inside Baltimore city limits, where the speed limit drops down to 35 mph. The cop pulled him over, and apparently had a bruised ego. He said, "Man, I was right there, and you didn't even brake!"
They get off on watching drivers freak out...
