Unless your neighborhood kid is seriously into cars and quite mature for their age (ie, they appreciate the value of a car), I would not just have a neighborhood kid do the job. You might as well take it to the car wash and have them spritz on the all-in-one spray.
Seriously, I would avoid hiring someone who doesn't know what they're doing (ie, neighborhood kid). You're MUCH better doing it yourself with little or no experience. At least you'll stop if you notice you're doing something wrong. Hire the neighborhood kid to mow the lawn, pull weeds, etc., and use the time you save to work on your car. It's really not that hard. It just takes a little patience and being careful. Do a little research on this board or carcareonline (see my prior post for warning on this site) on the best type of wax to use for your circumstance, go buy the necessary supplies, and block off a Sat/Sun afternoon to take care of your car.
