Well, it is a 5W40 only. It has more additives to deal with the acids and soot loads of a diesel. It has all the spark engine API ratings you would want to look for. I have it on hand for a VW TDI diesel. Tried it in my 95SET. Engine ran quieter and smoother, silky smooth. My MPGs improved by around 6% on my highway commutes. This is all relative to the Mobil One 10W30 which I had been using.
A xW40 will provide better lubrication of things like cam lobes. Delvac is something that you can get from a Mobil distributor, or have it shipped to your door. If you have a CAT heavy equipment dealer, they have Delvac one packaged in CAT gallon bottles, same oil, but some of the dealers are clueless about the product.
Someone also specutated that oils like this with stronger addative packages could create deposits on the cat converter. This thread is the first I have seen of concerns about the plugs. So I guess if Delvac was tried and the plugs stayed clean, then there should be no concern about the cat.
