For everybody concerned with the oil issue, one thing I would like to mention since I own a 99 9-5 2.3LPT and drove it in Germany for three years before bringing it to Canada:
The German dealers use exclusively full-synthetic oils for Saabs (European makes like Veedol, not Mobil One) BUT they recommend to stay away from the 0W-XXX viscosities! The reason being that there is NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE to 5W-xxx (pouring temperatur point maybe 5 Celsius lower on the 0W) and the engine with 0W grades IS MUCH NOISIER. Maybe other reasons too (not enough pressure with the thinner oil?) but I had the 0W-40 grade in my car and the engine was indeed running noticeably louder. I stick to 5W-40 or (since it is not common in Canada) I'll take the 5W-30 viscosity. Frequent oil+filter change (5-6K miles) is the best measure to keep the engine going.
Just my 2 cents ...
