There are at least two similar-looking formulations of Bon Ami, and only one is recommended for glass. You need to find the original, simple, basic formula that has only the mild abrasive in it, nothing else. IIRC, it's in a can that is only red and yellow. There is a similar formula in a can that has some foil on it that has ingredients more like Ajax or Comet which is NOT the one you want.
I found the right stuff at an OSH a few years ago. But you know there are lots of glass cleaners in the world, I don't know if I would escalate to Bon Ami right away. Go to carcareonline.com and see his recommendations. I've used Invisible Glass from Stoner, which is so-so, and Wurth Glass Cleaner which is expensive but works very well. There are also the old standbys of a damp chamois, and using newspaper with your glass cleaner.
