My gut reaction is to say "Get another Aero!"

But let's examine your other choices:

S60R - No idea, haven't heard much about this one?

330i - With a stick it does 0-60 in 6.5 sec; there's an option coming soon which adds 10 hp and a six-speed MT, will reduce this to 6.1 sec. Pricey once you add the popular options; interior somewhat cramped and not particularly comfortable. Seems overrated to me; the current 5-series is my favorite BMW--MUCH better ride/handling balance.

330xi - Heavier, less sporting, higher center of gravity, gas guzzler - equipped with an autobox, it gets fuel economy of only 17/25 and 0-60 of 7.4 sec! Get it only if you really want/need AWD

Passat W8 - kinda expensive? $38k for a Volks with a $22k sibling?! (Still haven't seen one on the road, bRAD!)

WRX STi or WRX - best bang for the buck. I was seriously considering a WRX Wagon until I stumbled across the amazing end-of-model-year pricing on my Aero. WRX has a cheap interior and odd looks, but you may forget about all that once you drive it. Zoooom! 0-60 in under 6 seconds. LOTS of aftermarket options. good BB over at http://www.nasioc.com or http://www.impreza.net (formerly i-club)

G35 - As bRAD says, all the magazines seem to like it. But does this car have "soul"? European cars seem to have that certain "something", which most Japanese cars lack.

If you're considering smaller cars, have you considered the G35 coupe, which is the Nissan Z twin? How about the upcoming Mazda RX-8?? Also, the Mitsu Lancer EVO is coming soon. Check out the Japanese video below--supposedly a Lancer beat a Ferrari 360 Modena and BMW M3?!

(Also shows the BMW M3 SMG transmission allowing > 8000 rpm overrevs)
