it.
It's very cumbersome to use, makes a mess in the engine compartment because the upper trans cooler line is very difficult to loosen on most of the newer cars, to attach the hoses. And it's always a little amount of fluid coming out onto the frame work.
The machine pushes the new fluid into the sump of transmission, where the old oil is residing. Mixing with the old and slowly push it out and into the machine while you drive the car on the hoist.
I can see through a sight glass how the fluid gets cleaner and cleaner. BUT it takes about 15q to replace the fluid so that really clean one is coming out. And technically, the drainplug magnet doesn't get cleaned.
So now I use the drain and refill procedure 3 times, with running the car in between. Which amount to about 9-10q of fluid.
I start with putting a cleaner detergent into trans, drive the car for a test drive. Drain the fluid when hot, so that it pours out easily. Fill up with 4q. Run the car on hoist through all gears. Drain and refill with 3q. When rest of service is done, I drive the car around the block. Take it back in and drain and refill to specs and add trans conditioner.
We charge 1 hour for this procedure. Every 30K miles, or less if needed.
