I love the Valentine One. Have had one since 1994, when I bought my '94 900SET. I would never even consider another model (unless it was SIGNIFICANTLY better than the V1). I'm also on the Turbo! mailing list, and most SAAB owners there 1) have the V1 or 2) converted from other detectors to the V1.

The V1 is simply the best, and it's definitely worth its high price. $400 is nothing compared to what you'll pay in increased insurance rates when you get that speeding ticket.

Combined with a little common sense, the V1 provides the best protection from speeding tickets (other than not speeding at all).

However, there is something to be said of the "ignorance is bliss" argument. I've seen the occasional car blow by me on the Interstate (a rare occurence, I assure you) at triple digit speeds (usually a woman on a cellphone without a detector) drive for miles and never get pulled over. Oblivious drivers seem to have Teflon coated car or something-at least until they crash. I usually let them lead the way and just monitor with my V1.

It's all a crap shoot-but I rather would be informed than ignorant.
