My dad had a Bel 855 STi that was really crap-that thing used to go off all the time for no reason. The Bel used to place 2nd next to the V1 in detector comparisons-but I can't imagine it was *ever* in its class. I borrowed it from my Dad occasionally until I bought my V1. I also "rented" a new Passport w/laser (when they first came out back in '93, I think) for a cross country trip that I promptly returned because it too was pretty lame. Thanks God for the 30 day MBG!
And as another "stamp of approval" for the V1-just pick up any car magazine and in the multicar test comparisons you will most likely see a picture that has a V1 on the windshield of one of the test cars. Car & Driver uses them all the time-and I distinctly recall an all out race (don't recall what distance the race was) between a single engined prop plane and a Ferrari several years ago to see which one would get to a designated spot somewhere in TX. The Ferrari lost (but not by much). The Ferrari was equipped with all kinds of gadgetry, including a V1.
Doesn't that just say it all?
