The Aero has tallish gears which take advantage of a very torquey engine. This gives it really long legs for highway cruising, and excellent fuel economy. I'll double-check for you later, but IIRC, 70 mph in 5th gear (stick shift) is somewhere around 2,200 to 2,500 rpm.

Cruising at 70-75 mph on the highway, you will easily obtain over 30 mpg!

And a really neat thing about the torquey engine is you NEVER have to downshift out of 5th to overtake on the highway! Unless you REALLY WANT TO of course :-)

Oh, regarding the handling, yeah, the 9-3SS handles a bit tighter (factor in 4+ years of suspension/chassis technology improvement and development, like the ReAxs rear steer) but the 250+ hp and 258+ lb/ft of torque of the Aero (you get more during the 30 seconds of overboost) are more fun IMO and the Aero handles pretty darn well in its own right.

All 9-5s received suspension upgrades and revisions starting with the 2002 model year.

ZOOOOM!

Go for the Aero, you won't regret it!
