If memory serves me, the Fixed style will have two pistons for each caliper, one on the outside, and one inside. The floating style has one inboard piston only. Fixed style pads are rather square whereas the floting style are more banana shaped.
I did my rears around 63000 miles. Bought rotors I wound up not needing. When I measured my rotors there was still .040" stock; meaning that only .020 had worn. Chances are you won't need to replace yours either. And, unless they are currently throbbing, or showing significant grooving, you probably don't need to do much more than knock the lip off the perimeter edges (outboard and inboard). That can be done pretty quickly with a file.
You should have 4 pads; two for each wheel.
