If you want to keep running the 17" BBS but just change tires, you can go to an all season radial but they are greatly compromised, as I'm sure you know. The 225mm width of the tire creates a plow-like effect. Narrower tires perform better in the snow but the narrowest you can go on the 17" wheels is 215mm, not good enough. You still are running the 45 series aspect ratio instead of a 55 series or 60 series. So going with the narrowest tire will only provide a modest traction advantage.
Consumer Reports is the only publication I'm aware of that tests all season tires in the snow. Brands like Cooper, Kelly, Goodyear, and Nokian (yes, they make an all season tire) do best in their tests. Michelin is OK. Bridgestone and Yokohama suck in snow.
Your current strategy is giving you the best of all worlds. More convenience = less traction and stability. Are you sure its worth the trade off?
