Hi Steve,
It seems to me that a more interesting comparison to the Aero is the new high horsepower, AWD Volvo S60. I own an '02 Aero and drove the S80 a couple of times and felt that the car was ponderous. The new S60 may be a different story - and priced just like the Aero.
By the way, I get my car "genes" from my mother. She drove sports cars and motorcycles. Even debilitated by cancer, she would hobble to her '94 300ZX turbo - stash the walker under the hatch - and go for a mind-clearing rush trough the twisties. I remember being 17 in 1975 and we had just gotten our new 280Z - she took me over to another females friend's house who was an ex-road racer type. She said that I couldn't drive the "Z" without learning to heel-and-toe downshift... and learn to "feel" the synchros so that the clutch was optional on the upshifts....
Cheers to learning to drive all over again!
