Drive it gently for the first 1,000 miles, especially while the engine is cold... And while the engine is cold, don't ever use full throttle, and don't use high rpm nor high boost. I like AeroLady's "no turbo zone" near the house, and I adhere to it for these reasons:

1) prevents undue stress when leaving in the morning, on the cold engine and transmission
2) helps cool down/spool down the turbo before reaching home
3) and besides, it's unsafe to speed in a residential area

While this is probably overkill, a manual for a Yamaha motorcycle I once had described a nice break-in guideline, it was something like this:

0-400 miles don't exceed 3,000 rpm, and minimize the use of full throttle
401-800 miles--engine speed may be gradually increased to 4,000 rpm
801-1200 miles--engine speed may be gradually increased to 5,000 rpm

And then after 1,200 miles the rpm can be brought up to redline (6,000 rpm)

The exact figures were different (that motorcycle redlines at around 10,000 rpm, and its break-in was considered complete at 600 miles) so I adjusted/guesstimated for the SAAB... but I think you can get the general idea.

The worst mileage I've ever seen on a tank was on the car's second tank of gas--about 18 mpg, in city driving. But by around 5,000 miles I've been able to get 30 to 33 mpg on pure highway. (mostly 70-75 mph)
