consumption. Your right foot dictates the pace. I wouldn't recommend disconnecting the battery, as that does all kinds of things to your car as in resetting the radio presets, clock.....
Given that you have a manual box, you do have the overboost feature, i.e. you get more than the 258 lb-ft or torque (something like 270+ lb-ft), for about 10(?? or is it 30??) seconds, similar to some Volvo engines.
Just enjoy you occasional fling down motorway, freeway, autobahn, autostrada.... and surprise those German sedans :-).
