From driving both at the Aero Academy (equipped with auto transmissions) to their maximum limits I would say there is little to no difference. As mentioned below, a number of instructors preferred the wagon, especially on the autocross. If you need the extra space and versatility of the Aero wagon, IMHO you will sacrifice nothing in handling or performance. FWIW I have owned nothing but manual Saabs(6), but I was thoroughly impressed with the current automatic transmission and may have a change of heart on my next one. Drive the '03 auto Aero wagon in Sport and Manual mode and see what you think. Good luck and have fun!
